Vending Machines Vending Business

Selecting the location for vending machines for your vending business

Isebell Gauché

Is a vending business still viable and if so which types of vending machines do well? These are questions we often get and there is no simple answer. From our own experience in vending, we can say YES a vending business works, depending on the vending machines selected, the management of the vending business and the location.

Why is location so important?

The idea behind a vending business is to provide products or services without human interference. Since you will depend on the landlord, shopkeeper or property manager at a specific location for the safekeeping of your vending machines, it is important to establish a good working relationship with the person. Don't place your equipment at a location where the contact person is not responsible or is negative towards you.

Traffic is important

You need enough users to make money. It is the bottom line. To succeed in the industry you will thus need to take great care in selecting the perfect location for your vending machines. Take a lot of time on this process since it can lead to success of failure of the vending business.

Fit the customer

The product or service should appeal to the visitors of the establishment. A toy vendor for instance, will work well at a shopping centre where there is a DVD store, grocery store, toyshop, pet shop, medical doctor, playroom, and a children's clothing store etc. It will not work well in an office building or a shopping centre catering for adult shoppers with adult clothing stores, jewellery shops and banks. The same applies for all other vending machines.
